Green Bean Casserole
Green bean casserole is a beloved Thanksgiving side dish that's easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. Here's a classic recipe with some tips to make it even better.

- 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed
- 1 10.5oz cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup half n half or milk
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 cup french fried onions divided
Blanch the green beans: Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add the trimmed green beans and boil for approximately 2-3 minutes. They should still be bright green.
Make the sauce: Add the olive oil to a saucepan on medium-high heat and saute the garlic and onion with a sprinkle of salt & pepper until translucent. Next add the can of Cream of mushroom soup & half-n-half. Stir until well combined.
Compile the casserole: Add the cooked green beans to a 9 x 13 baking dish, pour the sauce over top and gently stir to coat.
Top it off: Evenly cover the green beans with the shredded cheddar cheese and the French Fried onions.
Bake: Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 10 minutes, then uncover and cook for 10 - 15 more minutes or until heated through and bubbly.
