Frozen Ginger and Turmeric Wellness Shots
Boost your immune system with a refreshing homemade ginger turmeric wellness shot! Perfect for busy mornings or as a post-workout pick-me-up.
We’ve grown accustomed to reaching for a pill at the first sign of discomfort. This reliance on pharmaceutical solutions, while convenient, often overlooks the power of natural remedies. Growing up in the era of pharmaceutical dominance, I, too, was skeptical of alternative approaches. The mere mention of herbal remedies was often met with scoffs and eye-rolls. This societal bias, unfortunately, led me to dismiss natural healing methods as ineffective.
But let’s pause for a moment and think about the time before the advent of modern medicine. Do you think people popped an acetaminophen for a headache? No, people turned to the healing properties of plants and herbs. These natural remedies, while slower-acting than pills, offer a gentler approach to healing with minimal side effects. By supporting the body’s innate ability to heal itself, nature’s medicine can provide lasting relief and promote overall well-being. I love these Frozen Ginger and Turmeric Wellness Shots because they are so easy to snag from the freezer, pop into hot water with some lemon and honey and voila! A powerful anti-inflamatory hot drink!
My Approach
We all would do better to slow down a bit and recognize that health starts from the very basics. Oftentimes our ailments can be cured with proper hydration, nutrition, and striking a balance between work and rest. But of course there are times where those needs have been clearly met and our bodies need a bit more support to heal. Luckily we have evolved on planet earth, alongside so many powerful plants and herbs that can aid in our injuries and illnesses. This knowledge, which used to be coveted and valued, has been lost with the advent of fast acting pharmaceuticals.
Using a simple example of a headache, my approach would look like this:
- Hydrate and Nourish: Often, a simple headache can be caused by dehydration or low blood sugar. Start by drinking a glass of water or an electrolyte-rich beverage. If you haven’t eaten, grab a quick, healthy snack.
- Nature’s Medicine Cabinet: If the headache persists, turn to nature’s remedies. Ginger, turmeric, and peppermint are amazing natural pain relievers. You can find these ingredients in teas, supplements, or even essential oils. I love to use Earthly’s tinctures to work with my body in recovery.
- When to Reach for the Pills: If natural remedies don’t provide relief and I feel like it is something that I cant coexist with then I will turn to over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen when you feel it is necessary.
Remember, everybody is different. What works for one person may not work for another. If you experience frequent or severe headaches, it’s always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider.

How To Use These Frozen Ginger and Turmeric Shots
I freeze this concoction in small portions. I do this using a silicone ice cube tray mold that I found on amazon here. When I am ready for tea, I fill a mug with hot water and pop in one or two cubes along with some honey and lemon and enjoy. You can also pop one into a shot glass and fill with water to disolve, once melted you can shoot it back. I like to drink this tea or take it as a shot 3 – 5 times a week to recieve the steady anti-inflamatory effects. If I feel a cold coming on I will drink it once or twice a day and will often add in a few drops of Echinacea or Feel Better Fast from EarthlyWellness.
