My morning coffee ritual is sacred. It is a quiet moment that I cherish before the hustle and bustle of the day. And yes, I am THAT mom, I’ve embraced the 5 AM alarm to steal a few moments of solitude and savor a warm cup of coffee. This ritual is a calming anchor that sets the tone for my day.
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with a unique twist on my morning coffee: an egg yolk latte spiced with cinnamon. Yes, you read that right—an entire egg yolk. While it may sound unconventional, the results are truly transformative. The egg yolk creates a velvety-smooth texture, elevating my normal coffee experience and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back.
Beyond its indulgent taste, this latte offers significant nutritional benefits. As a woman, I’ve struggled with vitamin D deficiency, a common issue. Fortunately, egg yolks are a rich source of vitamin D, providing up to 11% of your daily needs. Additionally, they contain essential nutrients like fat, protein, and choline. Starting my day with this nutrient-packed beverage gives me a healthy boost, even before breakfast.

Egg yolks are a nutritional powerhouse, packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. They contain choline, a nutrient that supports brain health and cognitive function. Additionally, egg yolks are a great source of vitamin D, which is crucial for bone health and immune function.
What Makes This Latte So Special?
The egg yolk is the secret ingredient that elevates this latte to a whole new level of richness and smoothness. When steamed with the milk and spices, the egg yolk creates a velvety texture and a luxurious mouthfeel. It’s like drinking liquid velvet!
Tips & Tricks
- Be sure to slowly add the coffee, and vigorously stir. If you do this properly you won’t have scrambled eggs in your coffee but rather it will have a velvety smooth consistency.
- For a sweeter latte, you can add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup to the egg yolk mixture.
- If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use strongly brewed coffee.
- For a richer flavor, use dark roast coffee.
